Friends of SEKUCo, wherever you are, | Opening of SEKUCo | | It was a morning with heavy rainfall. Inevitably, we became worried: How would we be able to celebrate the Inauguration service? Even if the tents had already been fixed at the service venue, they wouldn't accommodate all the guests who were expected to come. At 9.30 it stopped raining and by that time the trumpet players and choir singers had already started to "warm up". In the library, the bishops and pastors prepared themselves for the service and some minutes after 10 they began marching towards the venue for the service where people were waiting. |
That was Sunday 28th October 2007. The Dedication Day of Sebastian Kolowa University College. Indeed, it was a day of Thanksgiving to the One who made Sebastian Kolowa University College a reality. The worshippers at the service were from Finland, Germany, Sweden, USA, Kenya and Tanzania. Prayers were held, children chanted a Ngonjera, guests delivered their speeches, the Word of God was preached. Accompanied by 45 trumpeters and an organist, a choir of 200 people sang: | Holy, Holy, Holy, LORD God Almighty All thy works shall praise thy name in earth and sky and sea Holy, Holy, Holy, merciful and mighty God in three persons Blessed Trinity! | Choir and people | At around 2 p.m. it was declared: Sebastian Kolowa University College is opened! | | Today is 5th November 2007. The first week of teaching the students has passed well. 125 out of 181 expected students have reported and started their studies. More student continue to arrive. It is a joy to come to Campus A in the mornings and see the students rushing to their classes with books under their arms or finding them reading books in the library, working in the computer lab or drinking tea in the cafeteria. | | A miracle from and by God has been realised through our human heads, hands and hearts. There are still moments when we ask ourselves: Is it true? | | Many thanks for all support you have offered: funds, equipment, advice and - not least - prayers. We are strongly encouraged by having you as partners in this project. | | God, endow us with faithfulness to the material, intellectual and spiritual treasures that you have borrowed us during our short earthly life. Fill our hearts with a high sense of stewardship as we pull together these resources to serve you at SEKUCo and elsewhere. Amin. |
