We want to state it explicitly that SEKUCo will be open for ALL who qualify to join University studies. We mention this for two major reasons:

  • First, people might tend to think that since SEKUCo is being opened by a diocese within the Lutheran church family, only students who are Lutherans or Christians will be admitted. But this will not be the case. The North Eastern Diocese has a long tradition of supporting the Government in delivering social services. In that role, the NED has never segregated people for religious or tribal or any other reasons. Therefore, applicants who seek to join SEKUCo will be admitted on the basis of academic merits and criteria that are to be set for each particular course. The religious, denominational or ethnic backgrounds of applicants will not be used as criteria for or against admission.
  • Secondly, it is important to mention that physical or sensory barriers must not hinder applicants with right qualifications to join University studies at SEKUCo. We will therefore make sure that applicants who have some form of disability but qualify academically will be assisted to live and study as comfortably as possible.
The following Faculties will be opened in the coming five years:
  • Faculty of Education
    • - Department of Special Needs Education (planned to be opened 2007)
    • - Department of Languages and Communication Skills
  • Faculty of Natural Resources’ Conservation and Tourism (planned to be opened 2007)
  • Faculty of Law
  • Faculty of Business
  • Faculty of Technology
  • Faculty of Neurology and Psychiatry

We will also have the following directorates:

  • Directorate of Diakonia studies
  • Directorate of Theological and Ethical Studies.
  • Directorate of Development Studies.
