On Tuesday August 22nd 2006 the NED received a
group of Women, Men and Youths from the South Eastern Pennsylvania
Synod (SEPA) of the ELCA which is a companion Synod. Within the group
is the Rev. Serena Seller who is representative of Bishop Claire
Burkat. The leader of the group is Ms. Susan Pursh who is also the
coordinator of Sebastian Kolowa University College (SEKUCo) project in
the SEPA. The group was received at the KIA by the Rev. Jonathan
Mwamboza, Dean of the NED accompanied by the Rev. Godfrey Walalaze who
is the Coordinator of Stewardship work within the NED.
|
The
main purpose of the visit this year is to strengthen the SEPA’s
involvement in the SEKUCo Project. SEPA is the NED’s main partner in
this Project. The group is here to take part in the renovation work
going on at Magamba Campus A. This is the Campus where by God’s grace
the first students will be received in 2007. The visitation shows
clearly the commitment of SEPA on this project. Above all this is a
clear indication that two sister churches of Christ share a common
vision of doing God’s mission in our time. Indeed this has been said
again and again by leaders and some of congregants in both the NED and
the SEPA that this universityproject is a way of getting involved in a
great ministry and a great mission together.

Our SEPA sisters and brothers who take part in this work camp deserve
our heartfelt thanks. We of the NED see clearly that their presence has
strengthened our partnership by taking us some steps further forward.
Our relationship is stronger than it was before. That mean we are
growing day after day in our partnership. We pray that God by the power
of the Holy Spirit may use this partnership as a means of His mission
in the world.
|
| May God protect the SEPA group working at Magamba. May God bless each one of them with peace and joy. |

Here together with this short information we show our readers some
photos of the work going on at Magamba. One can clearly see that we now
have some clean buildings at the campus. We also show you some photos
of the group from the SEPA while at the NED office and at work in
Magamba. |
| The first of these photos is a group photo whereby they are standing
in front of a house they were working in. More photos will be posted
later as the work continues at Magamba. |
