On Sunday 20th August 2006 Handeni Congregation celebrated 25 years Anniversary and the event took place at the centre of the congregation in Handeni. The event of Sunday concluded a series of celebrations which have been going on in other parts of the congregation. For those who the size of the congregation according to membership and its geographical local would agree that it was worth doing event. |
| For us who witnessed the big event and compare it with what we know about the congregation would spontaneously say that the Parish leadership and congregants did a great job in preparing for the day. Here I am not only talking about food and drinks but mainly about the work done on the ground. Here we could witness the meaning and fulfillment of the words of the Lord, “that all of them may be one.” The unity of parish members made it possible for all those wonders to happen in Handeni congregation. | | Most of the guests to the event arrived on Saturday evening. These include the Bishop of the Diocese Dr. Stephen Munga, Pastors and guests from Germany and Sweden. The environment around the congregation centre was decorated with flowers and the air was filled up with trumpet choir music. It was really an environment of big event. | | The Sunday Service started with a procession. Two major events happened on the way to the place of worship. First was a stop over at a new cafeteria which was dedicated and opened. Thereafter the procession proceeded to the anniversary tower which was also dedicated. Both events were celebrated under the leadership of Bishop. The peak of all these was the Worship Service. Another major event that marked the anniversary was the Ordination of Theologian Yambazi Tito Mauya to the office of Priesthood. We congratulate Rev. Mauya for the promotion to that Holy Office. As a sign of taking the pastoral duties Rev. Mauya baptized three people – one adult and two children. We congratulate those who received baptism and we welcome them to the flock of our Lord Jesus Christ. The service took about 5 hours but what we received from it was everlasting blessings. Congratulations Rev. Hokelai Shekizongolo, Church elders and all congregants of Handeni for the big success. We pray that God may guide you and make you a blessing to all who come to Handeni and for the Church of Christ at large. |
