Bangala Lutheran Junior Seminary (BLSJ) of North-Eastern Diocese marks one of the important milestones on 16th of October 2004 as the school gives out its first Ordinary Level graduands. Form IV students in their classroom
The school, located at Vuga village - Lushoto District, was opened in January 2001 with a total number of 37 students. The administration block of Bangala school.
Today the number of students accounts to 163, comprising 99 boys and 64 girls. The memorable achievement of the school was when it ranked high among Tanga region secondary schools during its first Form Two mock examinations, which so impressed the diocesan members and other well wishers for the school development. The NED opened the school aiming at increasing the number of schools that offer secondary education in Tanga region where the level of education ranks so low compared to other regions. Also the NED felt the need to train personnel who will be resourceful for expansion of areas of mission, the vast social services and income generating projects, the need which is highly in demand. The school, as on its immature stage, faces shortage of premises and equipment. Buildings so far completed in the campus are 10 room administration block, one dormitory accommodating 90 students, one building with four classrooms and two staff houses which accommodate three families. Still in a great demand are laboratory, library, dinning-cum-conference hall, another dormitory of the same capacity and several staff houses. The teachers at Bangala. At the far right is the Headmaster, Mr. Charles Maghembe
On the most waited day, apart from the graduation occasion, the ceremony will host a fund raising event where about Tshs. 40 million is expected to be collected from parents and relatives of the students as well as other members of the Diocese. However the information has not so far established the guest of honour. Eventful, on August 5, 2000 the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Hon. Benjamin Mkapa graced such fund raising occasion which resulted into collection of about Tshs. 50 million. The president also laid the foundation stone. This year's examinations performance is so expected to be encouraging with memory of the results obtained by the first Advance Level intake at the sister school, Lwandai Secondary School of North-Eastern Diocese. Nine students sat for the final examinations on May 2004 resulting into five of them scoring division one while the rest attained division two.
