| On Tuesday the 6th November 2007 the NED officially dedicated and
opened a new building Irente School for the Blind (ISB) to be used by students with Low Vision.
The opening ceremony was officiate by the Bishop of the Diocese the Rt.
Rev. Dr. Stephen Munga and was attended by guests from inside and
outside the Diocese. |
| There were representatives from CBM, KCMC, and Tanzania Society for the Blind just to mention few. |
| The building itself constitutes three classrooms, consulting rooms and
an examination room. As it sounds the building is important for the
development of the institution especially for improving the services
offered there. |
The building has become possible due to the generosity of CBM which
paid for the construction while the equipment in the examination room
was donated by Norwegian partners. The NED thanks all those who made
this project a success. May God blessings shower on you!
|
| After this Low Vision project, now plans are underway to develop Irente
School for the Blind into a secondary school. So far the school is
running as a primary school. It is one of the most successful primary
schools in the country with a very high academic performance. Due to
success and due to needs of the society we believe it is high time for
the NED to develop this Institution to the level of Secondary
Education. Again we have high hopes that by opening SEKUCo we will be
able to get teachers who qualify to teach at the new secondary school.
The Diocesan Engineer is working on the BoQ for this project. Our aim
is to start with secondary school classes in the year 2008/2009. We
need your prayers and support. |
| God bless ISB! God bless your mission! |
