A day at the School
 This is how a day looks like at ISB:
06.00 Waking up, taking care of personal hygiene, cleaning the school compound. Breakfast (normally the pupils get maize meal porridge).´
08.00 Morning parade with the school band. Inspection of pupils cleanliness. Morning worship in the Dining Hall. The worship is led by pupils and teachers.
08.30 Physical exercise.
08.40 Class lessons.
10.00 Tea break (Tea is served with groundnuts or bread or doughnuts).
10.20 Class lessons.
12.30 Lunch (The menu consists of the following alternatives: (a) stiff maize porridge with beans (b) potatoes or bananas with meat and vegetables (c) Rice with beans or meat. Afterwards the pupils get fruits.
14.00 Class lessons.
15.20 Afternoon break. The pupils drink a cup of milk.
15.30 Class lessons.
16.30 Games. Two times per month this half-hour is used for the Pupils Council session. During one of these sessions the pupils are on their own, whereas a teacher joins them during the other session.
17.00 Preparing the evening meal. The pupils assist by peeling potatoes, bananas or pounding maize.
17.30 Rest.
18.00 Evening meal (Makande, i.e. maize mixed with beans/Rice or potatoes or bananas with some sauce)
19.00 Doing homework and studying quietly in the classrooms. Bedtime for the younger pupils (pre-school and Std. One). 19.30 Prayer - pupils, matrons and the patron
21.00 Bedtime During the night, the matrons make turns in watching the female pupils in their dormitories. The patron is always on duty.
The school year is quite long for the pupils at ISB.
They have two vacations annually: one in the middle of the year and another at the end. The students are able to go home only during the latter.
